Press Release:

Manchester UK: The city council of Manchester UK had organized the “Summer Family Fusion 2010” event for the residents living in and around South Manchester, UK at Ladybarn Park in Manchester on August 21st 2010. The objective of this event was to bring together the families of the Southern Manchester and also to provide an opportunity for them to demonstrate their talents; proving that the South Manchester has got the talent too.

This event was inaugurated by the legendary Rugby player Mr.Paul Sculthorpe. KCAUK took part in this “Summer Family Fusion” along with other residential groups who also participated in music, dance, and other interactive entertainments. KCAUK on behalf of the Konkani Speaking people proudly presented the Hunter Dance (Kirata Nratya) on the stage which received a lot of applauds from the audience. It was a proud moment, not only for KCA UK but also for the Konkani people too.

Ronald Lobo, Stany Rodrigues, Vinod Barboza and Rodney Rodrigues performed this dance. The President of KCAUK Santhosh Pinto was present on this occasion to provide encouragement and support to the KCAUK participants. The concept of this dance and the costume was done by James Ravi Pinto of Liverpool UK. The dance was directed & choreographed by Ronald Lobo of Manchester and Santhosh Sequeira of Warrington.

Having seen the KCAUK’s spirit of performance, the compeer gave a brief introduction as to the background, its activities, and the purpose of the existence of KCAUK to the audience. More than 200 residents including the children were present for the event.  More details about the dance and photographs are available at www.summerfusion.webs.com

KCAUK sincerely thanked Manchester City Council, the organizers of the event and the Community Foundation of Manchester for their support and their initiative to get the recognition to Konkani Community amongst the residents of South Manchester.
