Christmas Celebration by KCA UK

Manchester: On December 22, 2012 KCA UK held the Christmas celebration, which is popularly known as ‘Christmas Boom’ for the sixth successive year at St Margaret’s Hall Burnage- Manchester.
More than 30 families from different faith and communities participated in the fun filled Christmas Boom extravaganza.
This comprehensive family event started with a melodies song from Miss. Melisha Barboza followed by an outstanding Indian classical dance performance by Miss. Femina Solomon.
The event got an effective start by meaningful introduction by hosts. In the welcome speech KCA UK president Mr. Ronald Lobo welcomed the guest and urged everyone to enjoy the event as one family.
Soon after that, the little kids brilliantly performed the ‘Nativity Play’ narrated by Mrs. Lainet Pinto followed by Carol Singing. All kids and large number of ladies sang some well known Carol songs
All awaited Santa’s entry to the stage was made more effective to the kids by an historical brief by the host supported by Audio Visuals. The delighted crowd enjoyed the moments with Santa. Mr. Joe Andrade did a wonderful job as Santa and entertained the gathering along with distributing gifts to the kids. Mr. Santhosh Pinto conducted some exciting games for kids as well as adults, which kept the enthusiasm of the gathering going, at the end of the games winner were rewarded with the prizes.
A delicious dinner was served to the gathering, which was coordinated by Mr. Martin Saldanha and Mr. Stany Rodrigues.
The Charming evening further continued with the draw for picking the’ family of the day’ prize. Mr. Praveen Solomon and family are the lucky winners, Miss. Rachel Dsilva and Mrs. Diania Monis honoured the winners.
KCA UK treasurer Mr. Vinod Barboza proposed the Vote of Thanks, offered his sincere thanks to the Sponsors, people who worked hard on stage as well as behind the stage, he identified the contribution of Mr. Ronald Lobo, Mr. Santhosh Pinto, Mr.Sujith Rodrigues, Mrs. Marina Monis, Mr.Stany Rodrigues, Mrs.Lainet Pinto, Mrs.Charlotte Barboza, Mr.James Ravi Pinto, Mr. Martin Saldanha, Mr.Joe Andrade and all the kids performed on the stage. It was a satisfactory moment for the organiser to see that the gathered people gave a big around applause to the people who made this event possible.
Mr.Brazil Gomes was the lucky person of the day winning the Christmas Hamper, Solomon couple honoured the winner.
The event was jointly hosted by Mrs. Cecelia Andrade and Mr.Joseph Sequiera and succeeded in keeping the momentum ongoing throughout the evening
In the late hour of the event, the whole crowd was engaged in the nonstop dance, which was well supported by DJ Mr. Suijith Rodrigues.
KCA UK celebrates the Feast of Nativity (Monthi Fest 2012)
The Mangalorean Konkani speaking families from different parts of UK gathered on time as one family to celebrate this joy. The support from the guests renewed the spirit of happiness and inspired to carry on this feast in a true Mangalorean Culture, Custom and Tradition.
The celebration commenced with the introduction from Lainet Pinto. Fr Rudolf Noronha S J from London blessed the new corn. This was soon followed by the showers of flowers by the children and the adults as an offering to Infant Mary to commemorate her birthday; whilst the choir simultaneously sang the hymn "Morieak Hogolxieam".
During the holy mass the first reading was read by Mr. Cyril Pinto, second by Mrs. Pramila Pinto. Ihttp://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151146788677010.467117.545272009&type=3n his homily, Fr Rudy gave the historical background to Monti fest and how it spread to Mangalore. He stressed on the importance of family life and on preserving our traditions. He spoke of Mother Mary’s role in our salvation history and how she is a great example for us due to her cooperation with God. The choir uplifted the spirit by the melodious singing by the Choir team led by Mr. Stan Mendonca and his team members.
The prayers of repentance were read by Mr. Kenneth D’sa, Mr. Sujith Rodrigues, Mr. Joseph Sequiera, Mr. Vinod Barboza and Mr. James Ravi Pinto. The Eucharistic Celebration was elated by the choir team and by the melodious music of Mr. Sujith Rodrigues, Mr.Mukesh Kannan and Mr. Rohan, which uplifted the spirit and joy of the feast and made the hearts of the gathered people merrier.
Prior to the end of the mass, Mr. Santhosh Pinto offered thanks to Fr. Rudolf Noronha, the Choir Team and all the people for their devotional participation during the holy mass.
After the holy mass the soft drink has been served to all the guests. Mr. Stan Mendonca, the Master of Ceremonies brilliantly took the lead to direct the events for the rest of the day, which began with the beautiful dance by Ms. Sonal Mendonca and Ms.Crystal Futhado.
The President of KCA-UK Mr. Stany Rodrigues extended his warm welcome to all the guests, soon after this, Mr. Stany Rodrigues who completed his term along with his team members on this day handed over the responsibilities to the newly elected president Mr.Ronald Lobo who now took over the charge with his newly elected team.
The newly elected committee which will now render its services for the next two years from today till September 2014 comprises of Mr. Ronald Lobo as the President, Mrs. Lainet Pinto as the Vice President, Mr. Vinod Barboza as the Treasurer, Mrs. Savitha D’Souza as the Secretary, Mr. James Ravi Pinto as the Cultural Secretary and Mrs. Marina Monis as the Communication Co-coordinator.
After this all the elderly people who were amongst the assemblage were invited to the dais to actively participate in mixing the blessed corn with the milk which was later shared with all the guests. Their presence made the guest to remember their family members back in home town and also their near and dear ones. Once these embarked ceremonial procedure came to an end, the cultural activities commenced with the thrilling dance from young Cleona Pinto and Melisha Barboza, followed by the group dance by Shaun Pinto and team.
Traditional meal with seven different types of delicious vegetables, including Sanna, Rice, and Orn were prepared by KCA UK members which were later served to the KCAUK guests. KCAUK specially thank Mr.Martin Saldanha, Mr.Alwyn Bhutello, and Mr. Richard D’Silva for their dedicated work and also for their planning and co-ordination in arranging the food for all guests in time.
At the end of the lunch time, Mr. Santhosh Sequiera made the announcement to the gathering about the upcoming First Konkani Musical Extravaganza in United Kingdom by Stan Mendonca the ‘Stan Nite’ scheduled for June 23, 2013 at Wembley. KCA UK and MUKA Nottingham committee members assured their support to this event.
The events of the day further continued with a thrilling performance by Mr. James Ravi Pinto and team. Various talents very presented before the guests. Ms. Crystal Furthado and Team, Ms. Rhiana Buthello, Master Richard Mendonca danced their feet to the bollywood music, where as Mr. Sunil D’Cunha kept the momentum of the event lively by his melodious songs.
Mr. Joe Andrade, Mrs. Cecilia Andrade, Mrs. Arshiya Periera, Mrs Lainet Pinto and Mrs. Anthony Mary Rodrigues entertained by their innovative dance.
Mr. James Ravi Pinto and Mr. Ronald Lobo performed a hilarious skit to the guest.
Mr. Ronald Lobo and Mr. Santhosh Sequiera carried out a fund raising event for the association in the form of auctions of items which he had specially brought for the Association; this is followed by Bingo where a few prizes were awarded to the winners.Sincere thanks to Mangalorean United Konkani Association (MUKA) Nottingham for their active participation.
KCA UK extend its special thanks to, Mr. Brazil Gomes, Mrs. Molly Rego, Mrs. Cecilia Andrade, Mr. Joy Pinto, Mr. Francis Corda, Mr. Shailesh Rego, Mr. Vincent Rodrigues, Dr. Johnson D’Souza, Mr. John Furthado, Mrs. Premila Pinto and Mrs. Savitha D’Souza for their financial help.
The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Stany Rodrigues, He expressed his gratitude and thanked everyone who directly or indirectly supported to make the event a grand success. He gratefully expressed his special thanks to the members who prepared the meals, sponsors and members worked behind the screen for days to make the event a very success Mr. Joe Andrade and Mr. Santhosh Sequiera captured the day’s event in photos, where as Mr. Anil D’Souza was behind the Video Camera. The Sound and Music during the cultural events were under the complete control of DJ Sujith Rodrigues.
The event was concluded with a tea followed by bail dance.
